Face-lit letter questions
What is a rim and return letter?
A rim and return letter is a fabricated built-up letter with metal sides, called returns, and an acrylic face held in place by a trim around its edge, the rim. LEDs inside the letter light the face. We make them to your drawing with aluminium or stainless steel returns, powder-coated to your colour.
Rim and return or rimless: which should I choose?
Rim and return is the traditional, hard-wearing build for shopfronts and high streets. Rimless letters have no visible trim, so the lit face looks cleaner and more premium, which suits hotels, offices and high-end retail. Send us the drawing and we will advise which build suits the letter size and the site.
What face and return materials can you use?
Faces are acrylic, in white or colour, and returns are aluminium or stainless steel, powder-coated to a RAL colour or left brushed or mirror. We also make unlit acrylic and PVC letters. Put the finish on your drawing and we show it on a free 3D mockup before anything is cut.
Is there a minimum order, and can I order a sample?
There is no minimum order quantity, so a single letter, one sign or a multi-site rollout are all fine. Samples are available at a cost, so you can check the finish, measurements and lighting of a face-lit letter with your own eyes before you commit to a larger order.
How long do face-lit letters take to reach the UK?
We dispatch 7–8 days after you approve the drawing. Doorstep delivery then takes about 3 days by express or 6–8 days standard. We ship worldwide, and DDP (delivered duty paid) is available, so the letters arrive at your workshop or site without import duty to sort out on arrival.
